Escape the rush of daily life and immerse yourself in the magical world of nature with our Two-Day Knuckles Mountain Trek. Over the course of two days, you’ll explore the stunning landscapes of the Knuckles Mountain Range, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where towering trees, pristine rivers, and breathtaking viewpoints await at every turn.
Covering approximately 17 km on the first day and 15 km on the second, this trek allows you to fully experience the beauty and serenity of the mountains. Along the way, you’ll encounter cloud forests, pygmy forests, grassland plateaus, and tea plantations, all while spotting endemic birds, mammals, and freshwater creatures in their natural habitats.
This trek is more than just a hike—it’s an opportunity to reconnect with nature, witness cascading waterfalls, and spend nights under a starlit sky by a warm campfire. Guided by our experienced team, you’ll enjoy an adventure that energizes the body and soothes the soul, leaving you with memories that last a lifetime.

Hike deep into the forested slopes of the Heel Oya range, surrounded by vibrant greenery and fresh mountain air. Discover hidden paths and peaceful landscapes throughout the day.
Camp under the stars
Arrive at the basecamp in Thangappuwa village. Enjoy a hearty dinner and spend the night in nature — a true off-grid camping experience in the heart of the Knuckles Mountains.
Summit day begins
ohooo! Wake up to fresh mountain air and the sounds of the forest. After a warm breakfast, hit the trail again and make your way to the Knuckles Summit Range. The reward? Breathtaking 360° views of one of Sri Lanka’s most spectacular landscapes — a true highland highlight.
Relax, refuel & return
Enjoy a scenic lunch in the hills, then begin the descent through peaceful trails. Return to Kandy by late afternoon recharged, inspired, and carrying memories of an unforgettable two-day escape into the wild.
We will be camping at a designated basecamp near the traditional village of Thangappuwa. This location offers a safe, immersive, off-grid experience within the Knuckles Mountains, including dinner and breakfast.
Pack lightweight, quick-drying hiking gear, layers for cold nights/mornings at the campsite, and rain gear. A warm jacket for the evening is essential, as the mountains can get very cool.
We aim to return to Kandy by late afternoon on Day 2, typically arriving between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, depending on the pace of descent.
